Why you must have a Responsive Website?

If you are a layman then probably you won't understand what a Responsive Website means. I asked one of the my friends about it, and he said yes.. a website should be spontaneous (that's what he meant by responsive)...

So, before we go any further with this articles, lets understand the meaning of Responsive Website Design.

A responsive website design is a web design approach that allows your website and its content to dynamically adapt to the device it is being viewed on.

Normally when you open a website on your laptop, you could see all the content placed. But the moment you resize the browser, the content remains still. So, you are greeted with horizontal and vertical scrollers to take you to your content. But that is not the case with Responsive websites. The moment you resize the browser, your content automatically adjusts itself without reducing the size of your content, providing you an optimum reading and viewing experience.

So, why Responsive Websites are becoming so important lately?

More than 60 percent of internet users are using their mobiles to browse different websites. A market which was first dominated by desktops, then laptops are rapidly kneeing down in front of mobile devices.

People, nowadays, are browsing sites, checking mails and doing online shopping using their mobile phones. Gone are the days when people used to carry their laptops everywhere. Now, their smartphones do all these things for them.

Should webmasters go for mobile friendly sites?

Many webmasters have already created mobile friendly websites (such as Nodepages, Fashion Jaunt etc) to improve the overall browsing experience of their mobile users.

However, many webmasters are strictly against using mobile responsive websites just because they find it difficult to do so. But what they are not understanding that their adamant approach in this could lead them out of the market in less than a few months.

There has been a striking increase in the number of internet users, and by the end of 2014, mobiles devices will take over laptops for browsing websites. So, it is very important for your business that your website is mobile friendly. Improving the browsing experience of your users would result in more website visitors, more page views, better bounce rate and ultimately more conversion rate of your website.

So, if you have noticed high bounce rate of your website recently, please check if your website is mobile friendly. If it is not, you better make it responsive. Else, you are going to loose big time.

In case you don't know how to do it yourself, i would recommend you contact a web development company now.
